A Real Magician :: Steve Jobs RIP
Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 4:20PM This is the first time that this blog has reported on news not magic related. However the passing of Steve Jobs, in my opinion, requires a quick comment. Without Mr Jobs you would not be reading this. Without Mr Jobs and his superb products much of the content that I report would not be possible. Without Mr Jobs I would not be able to receive email on the go and alert you to the latest developments here. Without Mr Jobs you would not be able to surreptitiously record lectures. Without Mr Jobs you would not be able to grab that snap with your favourite magician when you bump into him at a convention. Without Mr Jobs Murphy's Magic would have 100 less products on their shelves. Hundreds of things we take for granted would simply not be possible if Mr Jobs had never graced this earth. Steve Jobs was a real magician. The real magician. Making the impossible possible. When attempting to lure John Sculley away from Pepsi-Cola he famously said "Do you want to sell sugar water for the rest of your life or come with me and change the world?”. Well change the world he did.
Over on the Genii Forum I discovered a quote from mr Jobs that many magicians will enjoy.
"Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things. And the reason they were able to do that was that they’ve had more experiences or they have thought more about their experiences than other people".
