Paul and Debbie were visitors here last Decemeber as guests of The SIM. While here they told you editor how they love visiting and have done so many times over the years, much of which was on private family vacations. Don't miss the tour.
Paul Daniels and the lovely Debbie Magee were guests of Derek Mooney on his RTÉ Radio 1 show yesrterday afternoon. Having wowed a full house at the SIM the preceding night Paul and Debbie were in great spirits chatting with Derek. Paul and Debbie handled the tougher questions with ease and in the end this was a wonderful interview which allowed the two guests the space to answer and in turn provided meat on the bones for the listener.
After the radio show Paul and Debbie attended the opening night of The Gaiety Panto and were papped on the way in. Stories have appeared in The Irish Independent and on Showbiz.ie. The title copy of the Showbiz.ie story is totally misleading and is in fact, downright lazy jounalism. As afterwards Paul told me it was one of the best panto's he has ever seen, heaping particular praise on the children in the cast. High praise indeed from someone so respected and it was nice to hear that us Irish are just as bit as good at panto as they are across the pond.

Fully paid up members of The SIM are in for a special treat next month. The committee are delighted to announce "An evening with...Paul Daniels".
Paul is without doubt the most recognisable magic name for an entire generation. His TV show The Paul Daniels Magic Show ran on BBC 1 prime time from 1974 to 1994 and he continually sold out huge theatres across the UK and Ireland, including The Gaiety, with his live show. He is still currently touring extensively and advising on theatre productions.
There are a generation of young magicians who may not be aware of the huge star that Paul is. You should know. Find out. And make sure you don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity.
Magicians Only Aundience With...
The night itself will take place at Cassidy's Hotel and is in two parts. From 7:30pm Paul will hold "An audience with...". A paid up SIM member event only, where Paul will regale stories, perform and take questions.
Invite your Family
Following the interval Paul will take to the stage and wow us with his cabaret act. It is a rare rare treat to see and international superstar of magic in such intimate settings. Paul is a master magician the master magician. Have a look at the clip below to see what we mean. This part of the evening is for paid up SIM members and their family. Tickets for family members are €10 each. As the SIM expect a full room for this much anticipated evening you are asked to limit your guests to a couple of close family and friends.
Members of the SIM wishing to attend must email their name and the name of their guests to Secretary Brendan Byrne by Tuesday 29th November.
Due to space limitations and the massive popularity of Paul & Debbie the SIM are not currently able to open this up to members of other Societies. As the date draws closer they may be in a position to do so and will advise accordingly.

Brendan Byrne
It has come to the attention of the committee of the SIM that there are many people who would like to come to this event who are not members of the SIM. The committee would like you all to know that they share in this frustration. Paul will no doubt attract a huge audience and unfortunately the room in Cassidy's just simply isn't big enough to open it up to everyone. The SIM's regular meetings are currently attracting an attendance of around forty. If each of these people bring a guest or two then the room is already at capacity. And this doesn't even count for the rest of the SIM membership. As previously noted, if any space becomes available for members of other societies the SIM will let you know ASAP. The committee thanks you for your understanding.
Of course there is one way to ensure you can be there and that is to join the SIM. If you are a bone-fide magician you can join on the night. Current subscription rates are €80 for adults and €40 for juniors. This entitles you to attend 10 meetings per year.
Paul Daniels appeared as Brendan O'Connor's guest on The Saturday Show last Saturday 27th November. Footage is available on the RTE Player until the 18th December by clicking here. Paul's bit starts at 38 minutes.
