Ex SIM Member Owen Lean...

...appears in M For Magic 7th -16th April 3:00pm Barons Court Theater, London. £12 admission.
Owen writes, "Just a quick word about the new one man show I'm in with my friend Paul Brown. "M For Magic" is a family magic shows, playing 3:00pm matinees on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in the Easter Holidays in the Baron's Court Theater in London. "Magic's most magnificent maestros manifest a mind-melting medley of marvellous miracles, meaningful mysticism and madcap mischief mixed to make a masterful, memorable, monumental matinee"

Ed. Note: How you can be in a one man show with your friend is beyond me but anyhooooooo.

Seriously, Owen is one of those guys who has a raw passion for performing and was instrumental during his time here in swelling the numbers attending club nights and conventions.  Best of luck from IrishMagicNews.

Owen Lean's Christmas Busking

While doing some last minute Christmas shopping on the 21st December your editor bumped into Owen Lean back busking on Grafton Street.  Owen told us that he was back in Dublin for a Trinity College event celebrating the intriguing careers graduates of their Drama faculty have gone on to persue.

Owen was slightly dissapointed as his audience weren't in the most generous of moods. His passing of the hat was only generating around a quater of what it would normally.  Owen went on to tell IrishMagicNews that "anything from €60 ish and upwards would be a decent hat."

Perhaps the lack of generosity was down to the cold weather or saving for Christmas persents or perhaps what Owen really needed was to be in the company of Glen Hansard & Mundy who were busing later that day for The Simon Communities Longest Day.  In 45 minutes they earned close to €1000 for the homless.

Two days later Mssrs. Hansard & Mundy were joined by other musicans including Bono for more fundraising activities.  A video of this ad hoc event can be seen below.

Owen Lean is a name...

...some of you will remember from his time as a member of the SIM. Having graduated with what is believed to be the only degree in street magic world wide, from Trinity College, he is now living back home in the UK. Owen tells us,

"I'll be finally debuting my one man stand-up show, Failure, at a charity event in London on the 12th December. I've been working on it for years now, since I had the concept back in early 2006. The show contains many of my stories from time spent working on Grafton Street and music of fellow Dublin busker James O'Toole."
