Chuck Hickok Lecture Review

Chuck Hickok delivered one of the most memorable lectures in recent times at the SIM on the 3rd November. Chuck, vacationing with his good lady Betsy, took time out of his trip to treat those present to what can only be described as a master class in corporate entertainment. A crowd of more the 50 watched rapt with attention as Chuck performed his bread and butter corporate entertainment act with class, style, grace and humour. It is indeed rare for a corporate entertainer to 'tip his mit' in this way. Aside from learning some sterling effects the real lessons to be learned wasn't in the what he did. It was in the why he did. Chuck explained his thinking behind his act, his use of assistants, adding texture to his show and instilling a congruent theme throughout the act. Not too say the effects were poor, in face quite the opposite - they were amazing - but it was for those wise enough to look beyond the effects that the real lessons were to be learned. All in all a terrific lecture that was very well received by everyone present.
As an aside it was massively encouraging to see so many people turn up at the SIM for the Chuck Hickok Lecture. Over 50 people at a club lecture is really a brilliant turn out. I would like to think that IrishMagicNews has in part contributed to this. One of the main ethos's behind this site was to encourage harmony and support accross the entire magic community and it is wonderful to see that it seems to be bearing fruit.
