The Mysterious McComb :: Radio Documentary
Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 2:51PM
Originally broadcast by 4fm Ireland and produced by Digital Audio Productions, Dublin The Mysterious McComb is the magical story of Billy McComb, a boy from Belfast who became one of the world’s most influential performers and magicians. Born into an upper-class family in Belfast in the 1920’s, Billy turned his back on a career in medicine to follow his dream of becoming a world-class magician. His path to success took him from war-torn Belfast to Dublin (where he spent a night in prison) and on to The London Palladium. During his time in London he married and performed with his new bride, a former Miss Ireland. From there, Billy set his sights on global domination, traversing the globe performing on cruise ships. He eventually put down roots in Hollywood, setting the stage alight across Los Angeles and Las Vegas. A charismatic, timeless and indeed iconic figure, Billy McComb changed the face of magic and inspired a generation of aspiring magicians. The producers wish to thank Martin Breese for the original audio of Billy you hear in this production.

Thanks Brendan
Thanks Brendan for making this available. A great tribute to a great man.
Delighted to be able to give it to the world so to speak. Neville, hope things are well over in Australia, looking forward to seeing you.
Cheers for that Brendan. I can still remember his lecture in the Russel Court Hotel way back when. I perform his ring in box every time I have an audience over 30 people. A bloody miracle and you have practically nothing to do!! I was sitting beside Aonghus Mc Anally and he said it all as he whispered to me, 'If that ring is in that box I will....! ' I didn't get the rest as it was cut by thunderous applause. A fantastic moment! Thanks Billy.
Congratulations to everyone concerned with the documentary about the McComical One. I have had many responses, all favourable,
John
Hi John,
I saw you let Alan Watson know, thanks for that. Duncan is also running it on Saturday. And it has been posted on The Magic Cafe and Genii Forum by Dodd Vickers of Magic News Wire who also has it as his feature front page story for the last few days.
Wonderful to see so much interest in it and of course the man who it is all about.
Brendan
I enjoyed this very much and thought it very well produced and we are very lucky to not only have had Billy as one of our own, but this doc. does him justice. It's a ton of work, and I congratulate you ll for doing such a fine job.
I just got the stats with regard to how many people have listened to or downloaded the documentary. Wait for it....as of today a total 8202 have listened worldwide.
Just goes to show how loved Billy was. But sure we all knew that already.
